Designer tiles trace their origins to the 8th century, influenced heavily by Moorish artisans who brought geometric and floral patterns to life through hand-cut mosaics. Known as Zellige tiles, these were traditionally made by cutting glazed terracotta into small, colourful pieces and arranging them into elaborate patterns. Over time, Moroccan tiles became symbols of luxury and refinement, often used in palaces, mosques, and riads.
Today, the same artistry continues, but with the advantage of modern manufacturing techniques, making Moroccan wall tiles more durable, accessible, and versatile for contemporary interiors.
